What happened when there is New Normal?

Let us dig a bit about it. Wikipedia defines ‘New Normal’, “is a state to which an economy, society, etc. settles following a crisis, when this differs from the situation that prevailed prior to the start of the crisis. The term has been used following the financial crisis of 2007-2008, the aftermath of the 2008–2012 global recession, and the COVID-19 pandemic.”


Since COVID-19 erupted and spread to the world which brings terror of death, disease and significantly the fall of the economy of the major countries like USA, Asia, Australia, CANADA, UK and etc. The major industries hit hard are the hospitality industry. Hotels, restaurants and cafe shops, bakeries and etc are the few. Businesses were closed and forced to lockdown due to Government directives and to prevent the spread of the virus. More jobs were closed that means no income. It is already been few months since the lockdown but still people are struggling.

One of the major impacts of the lockdown are the increasing number of psychological imbalance which concerns whole discussion of mental health. Other people mentioned it about the isolation which the experts says that it is same thing as in the prisons. It is more likely depriving your social duties and interactions.

Some countries made some significant adjustments in handling the pandemic and able to cope up. However, some countries are still on the fight and the 2nd wave went through. Due to lack of information of the virus and vaccine is yet to be out for the public to consume, it is more hard for the people just to stay at home.

Now, stay at home or work from home is now the new normal. People are coping up. Finding ways to create new income generating work or business that will help them aid from the financial burden is getting traction. But for some people it is very hard when they are staying at home especially with the kids or family.

Now the questions is, How to take advantage in the new normal?

Some people suggests that making it as advantage for you is to find what works in this time of pandemic. This is also seen by other people as the opportunity to reset their lives and start over.

What works

Online jobs are now getting popular. But this is mostly for the people who are in creative and IT industry. These professionals are not really affected by this pandemic because they can work from home as long as they have internet. Someone can pay them through internet or with work they had done for the clients and that is what we called Freelancing. You can learn anything and it is not too late to start.


Delivery/courier business. Private individual are taking advantage of this opportunity to deliver goods that they bought online. Since the government implemented some identification when entering new area. So this is very great idea. You can still earn while you are at home.

what isn’t working (for now)

Restaurants – since lockdown no one is allowed to go outside and stay eat in the restaurants. This is not good idea for now though it is very highly profitable. This is a such huge loss when it comes to economic drive of the town. People need to eat but they can’t go out. Everybody now is conscious who are they dealing with. There comes a time that you need to know who you with because you might get the virus in unexpected way.

Even the things that we do is not working, just keep doing what you love. Refine it. Some people need it.

Soon, everything will come to pass and it will return to normal state where ordinary people can work. Business is usual and trading from all over the world will resume.

But for now let us work together and abide to what our government instructions. We hope and pray this pandemic and all the struggle will end the soonest. Lets forget the old normal but let’s explore and proceed to what we know is not normal. The future is what the new normal lies ahead.
